You may have seen a window-cling in someone's car, or maybe you've just seen the phrase here on our website, "no perfect people allowed." Well, we have to admit it wasn't our idea, we saw the phrase somewhere else, but we believe that phrase fits what we're about as a church. If you come see us, we want you to know that you're not going to find any perfect people here (and yes, this includes the pastors). That doesn't mean we're not trying. We hope that each day, anyone who calls Hillside his or her home is a little closer to perfection than the day before. But we place a high value on being real people. We want to create an environment where people won't be afraid to come as they are, where people are honest about themselves, and are willing to allow Christ to work on those areas where they need help. The only way this can happen is if we don't pretend we have it all together. So come, with all of your flaws and all of your shortcomings. Come learn with us about the grace of God and His power to make us into who He created us to be. "Jesus said to them, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'" -

No perfect people? Really? Skeptics think, "They're just saying that, it's not really true." Well, admittedly, we're not a perfect church -- we have our problems just like everywhere else, but one of our problems is certainly not a lack of grace. And grace is an amazing thing. It says, "Come as you are. We'll accept you. We'll all be honest and work together to become what God says we are." Just ask Phil. Phil came to us early in 2007. Initially, he came to test |
