| The Wesleyan Church has its roots in the Methodist church. The founder of methodism was 18th century preacher and reformer, John Wesley. John Wesley is known for his doctrine of holiness of heart and life. What he taught was that Christians could be made "perfect" in their intentions, that through the power of the Holy Spirit, believers can "love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength." He is also known for his practical "method" of spiritual growth. Thus his followers are named "Methodists." To learn more, see the arcticle on John Wesley on Wikipedia. |

Hillside is a Christ-centered church in the Methodist tradition, which means there are a certain set of beliefs we hold to be non-negotiable:
We recognize that there are many Christian denominations, each with its own scriptural interpretations and emphases. When there is honest disagreement about a non-essential issue of life, we believe that Christian love rules the day. We can discuss the issues, but will not let them destroy the unity we have in Christ. For more details on the beliefs of the Wesleyan Denomination, you can find our articles of religion by clicking here. |
